The world famous Carniolan sausage was named by the Austrian emperor Franz Joseph in when he was travelling through the province of Carniola. A country tavern owner humbly offered him his home-made sausages which had no particular name. Delighted with the new flavour, the emperor named it Krainer Wurst, Krainer sausage, after the province.
On Christmas 2006, Carniolan sausages had the honour of being part of the breakfast menu in space.
Ingredients: pork 85%, pork fat, water, pork rind, table salt, spices, dextrose, antioxidant E300, stabilisers (E450, E451), spice extracts, aroma, colouring agent E120, preservative E250, smoke. May contain traces of soy, wheat gluten and milk. Edible bovine collagen casing.
