Trapist is a very popular and widely used type of semi-hard, cow-milk cheese for slicing, the production of which has a very long tradition in Croatia and rest of the Balkan region. Its name indicates the place of its origin – the monasteries of Trapist monks, who manufactured cheeses.
There are many cheeses on the market which bear the name of Trapist, but none ripens on the same wooden boards as the Paški cheese. For this reason Trapist cheese by Pag cheese factory has such distinct, mildly salty taste.
Ingredients: pasteurised cow’s milk, iodised sea salt (sea salt, potassium iodate), thickener: calcium chloride, cheese culture, rennet, preservative lysozyme (from eggs). Minimum 45% fat in dry matter.
